Late Week Pickups: Round 9
Each week we’ll be taking a look at some late week pickup options so that you can get a win over your league mates. With these late week pickup’s, they’re all based on players who you wouldn’t necessarily play week to week, but have a great round matchup against the team they’re playing.
When we talk about these late week pickup’s we use a rule of 65% ownership or less on ultimate footy, just to give everyone a fair go at adding these players to your list. Also, these players are based off 22 man squads in SuperCoach and 26 for Ultimate Footy, so if you are in a league that has less than this then there will be better talent in the pool.
Scott Selwood – Finally into the team after the cats suffering three loses in a row. At just 58% ownership, Scott has a really good fantasy record against the Bulldogs, with 4 DreamTeam tonnes in his last 4 games and 2 from in SuperCoach. A very handy addition to any side.
Ryan Lester – Who is this you might ask? Ryan is listed as a forward with 48% ownership but has been playing midfield with the absence of Dane Beams and Tom Rockliff going down with injury. The last 2 weeks Ryan has had some very good scores with 2 scores in the high 90’s in SuperCoach and a high 90’s and score over 100 in DreamTeam.
Tim O’Brien – Another forward who has an ownership of 23%. A great set of hands, as well as a fair shot on goal. With the hawks being ravaged by injury, Tim will enjoy playing as a key forward with the ability to swing down to defence. Playing Collingwood this week so there is a fair chance to get on the end of a few marks and shots on goal.
Clay Smith – With Tom Liberatore out this week, I see Clay Smith as the man to jump in his position at the centre bounces. Clay has great tackling pressure not just in the mid but also when he plays forward, can kick goals as well. His ownership is at 44%
Dan Howe – Listed as D/M and an ownership of 61%, Dan is a great matchup this week because the Hawks are playing Collingwood, and as we have been saying on the Pod stream defenders against the Pies as their ball use going inside 50 is not great and the defenders tend to pick off the ball coming in. Scored well against Brisbane last week as well.
Paul Puopolo – One thing we’ve seen this year against the Pies is small forwards score well. ‘Poppy’s’ ownership is at 30% and with the Hawks starting to find some their mojo back. With scores in the 90’s in both formats last week, watch Poppy continue that form against the Pies.
Good luck in your matchup’s this week!!
