Late Week Pickups: Round 17

Each week we’ll be taking a look at some late week pickup options so that you can get a win over your league mates.  With these late week pickup’s, they’re all based on players who you wouldn’t necessarily play week to week, but have a great round matchup against the team they’re playing.

When we talk about these late week pickup’s we use a rule of 65% ownership or less on ultimate footy, just to give everyone a fair go at adding these players to your list.  Also, these players are based off 22 man squads in SuperCoach and 26 for Ultimate Footy, so if you are in a league that has less than this then there will be better talent in the pool.

As we approach the pointy end of the season some of the players mentioned have great fantasy matchups throughout the finals and are worth hanging onto to get you the win.

Lewis Jetta: The mid/fwd is only owned by 47% of leagues. Since coming into the team Jetta has been scoring well for an F5 position. As a good user of the ball and with JJK, here’s hoping he can hit him laces out and get a few goal assists as well.

Look to hold Jetta as that F5 or bench spot as the Eagles are one of those teams with a pretty fantasy friendly finals draw.

Levi Casboult: You may be thinking why the hell have I put him in. Well the simple fact is that Bulldogs have struggled to contain big marking forwards this. In just 47% of teams, Casboult was able to take 9 marks and kick 1.2. If he straightens up his kicking he can return a nice fantasy score.

Will Langford: Averaging in the low 80’s the last 3 weeks, it seems that Hawks are looking to get back to the finals very quickly and allowing the young guys to play in the middle. Owned by 55% of teams, Will is perfect for your bench cover as he is able to go forward and kick goals as well. Look to pick up if you’re in a keeper league.

Shane Biggs: With no Boyd or Wood in the team it will be down to Biggs to be one of the intercepting/rebounding defenders. We know Carlton aren’t the slickest ball movers going inside 50 so Biggs and the Bulldogs defence should be able to clean up any poor kicks.

The Dogs actually have a pretty good fantasy finals draw so he could be one to hold onto.

Charlie Curnow: This guy has been impressive the last 3 weeks taking averaging 10 marks, 19 possessions and a goal. Owned by 50% of teams, Curnow is living up to the hype surrounding him. Look to lock him away in your keeper team now.
