A DOZEN DEALS – ROUND 17

EACH WEEK I’ll be bringing you my thoughts on which players to BUY, SELL, HOLD, ADD and DROP in AFL Draft Leagues.  The moves are based on a 10 team redraft league with 22 players per team, so if your league is shallower, deeper or keeper, use your best judgement as to what moves apply.  Remember no-one HAS to trade with you, but the least you can do is make offers to try improve your team.  Also consider your league set up and team structure before making a move.  This is a list about value and treating your team as something that is constantly evolving to try get it as solid as it can be.  As I always say, “if you ain’t trading, you ain’t trying!”  You can hear the rest of my thoughts each week as part of the Draft Doctors Podcast released each Monday.

If you missed last week’s column, I’ll be brief but given most leagues are about to hit or have hit fantasy finals, your trade deadline has probably passed, so I’ll be focusing on add/drops from here out.  If you DO have a trade question, feel free to hit me up on Twitter or Facebook via the usual accounts.  Of course, without the trades, there’s a few less moves, I’m sure you’ll live:)

It’s crunch time and of course there’s a few moves to examine on top of the waivers we spoke about on Monday’s podcast.  I sincerely hope y’all are primed for a big run at your league titles, we’ve gotten a lot of positive messages so far and it’s awesome.  We want to hear and see some pics of you holding that trophy/cash and if possible a cup of your leaguemate’s tears!  Anyways, on to the moves…

ADD – AARON MULLETT (D) – Still only owned in 51% of UF leagues, so I’m going full broken record until that number rises!  Deserves to be in more teams, is absolutely the man to be using the ball in North’s back half, which is under fire each week it seems.

ADD – MICHAEL RISCHITELLI (M) – Played ok in his first game at AFL level for the season and can provide some nice bench cover.  Lyons’ injury opens up playing time and if I’m honest, Ablett isn’t the safest bet to play these days.  Rischitelli is playing for his future.  Love that hunger.

DROP – CALLUM MILLS (D) – Unless you’re in a keeper league, of course.  Mills has been somewhat of a disappointment from a fantasy perspective this season for mine.  Obviously a classy player, he just doesn’t get enough ball or make up for it through other avenues to be an every week start.  Has only given 5 usable performances this year (out of his 15 matches), doesn’t win the ball, doesn’t tackle, doesn’t build his score.  Other, higher possession players are back for the Swans and there isn’t infinite fantasy points to go around.  Leave him on your bench if you like, but I just can’t start Mills at this point and I’m looking to move on.

ADD – RYAN BASTINAC (M) – Again, nice bench cover.  Has a nice role in the Lions’ midfield, alongside a hindered Dayne Beams and Tom Rockliff and a sometimes tagged Dayne Zorko.  Lions have been cruelled by injuries to experienced

ADD – ANTHONY MILES (M) – Finally got another crack after tearing up the VFL for a while and didn’t disappoint.  Only owned in 49% of leagues, worth a bench flier/injury cover for your team.

ADD – CLAY SMITH (F) – If you need a forward flier.  Dogs need a forward option with Stringer gone down, Smith may get another crack with some good VFL numbers.  Dogs have ok matchups ahead, could be a good pickup.

DROP – STEPHEN HILL (M) – Again, if you’re in a keeper, hold away.  I understand this is a pretty hot take but Stephen Hill has been letting fantasy owners down since returning from injury.  Started the year playing inside mid but has been shifted out and it’s crushed the scores.  Hasn’t scored over 75 DT and 82 SC since round he returned in round 9, which just doesn’t cut it as a midfielder.  High ownership on UF and is obviously a name player.  I personally cut him over the bye rounds and didn’t look back.  Sometimes the #brand value isn’t worth carrying.  On top of all that, he is no certainty to line up this weekend after sustaining an injury on the weekend.

Good luck and keep listening!
