Late Week Pickups: Round 21
Each week we’ll be taking a look at some late week pickup options so that you can get a win over your league mates. With these late week pickup’s, they’re all based on players who you wouldn’t necessarily play week to week, but have a great round matchup against the team they’re playing.
When we talk about these late week pickup’s we use a rule of 65% ownership or less on ultimate footy, just to give everyone a fair go at adding these players to your list. Also, these players are based off 22 man squads in SuperCoach and 26 for Ultimate Footy, so if you are in a league that has less than this then there will be better talent in the pool.
Well with all the carnage that has happened this week you might be thinking of Hudson from the movie Aliens and yelling Game over man. Game over! Hopefully your team isn’t to decimated and you could use some or all of these guys to get you out of trouble.
Peter Wright: Absolute no brainer in this one with Handsome Tom out for the rest of the season leaving 2 metre Pete as the main man up forward. Playing the Lions this week who give up points all over the ground. Owned by just 44% of teams we have seen Wright dominate the Lions only last year where he kicked 5 goals, took 6 marks and had 27 possessions. Lock him in before you opponent does.
Rory Lobb: With Mumford being suspended this week and Dawson not in the team, it has fallen to Rory to take the sole ruck job. Owned by 62% of teams and playing the Bulldogs who we know give up fantasy points in the ruck department, he is perfect for the one week until Mummy comes back into the team. A bonus is that he is listed as a forward but does take contested marks and kick goals when resting in the forward line.
Lewis Jetta: The Eagles are looking for speed and efficient kicking inside forward 50 and Jetta delivers that. Owned in 35% of teams after coming back from a calf injury. Up against a tiring Carlton and playing on the big Domain stadium, he should get plenty of inside 50’s and goal assists hitting Kennedy and Darling laces out.
Rhys Stanley: Coming in for the suspended Tom Hawkins, Stanley should be firmly planted inside 50. Will also pinch hit in the ruck when Smith needs a breather. Owned by 64% of teams and listed as ruck/forward, he should give you a good F4/F5 score.
Angus Brayshaw: You’ve got to risk it to get the biscuit. Back in the team this week after performing well in the VFL where he has averaged 27 possessions, 5 marks and 4 tackles the last 3 weeks. Owned at just 38% and listed as a mid/forward, Gus will probably play as a floating half forward and push up on to the wing where he will be used as a link in the chain so should get plenty of score involvements.
Good luck in your matchup’s this week!!
