Late Week Pickups: Round 23

Each week we’ll be taking a look at some late week pickup options so that you can get a win over your league mates.  With these late week pickup’s, they’re all based on players who you wouldn’t necessarily play week to week, but have a great round matchup against the team they’re playing.

When we talk about these late week pickup’s we use a rule of 65% ownership or less on ultimate footy, just to give everyone a fair go at adding these players to your list.  Also, these players are based off 22 man squads in SuperCoach and 26 for Ultimate Footy, so if you are in a league that has less than this then there will be better talent in the pool.

Well it’s the final round of fantasy footy for the year, so if you are in the grand final, congratulations on making we hope you bring home the win. If you are in the grand final then you will probably find that there is not much left in the pool, so I’m going to give my thoughts on some players who have a good matchup.

With North Melbourne they have played an attacking brand of footy all year and are playing the Lions who also play an attacking brand of footy. A bit like the All Star NBA game there will be no defence in this game.

Ben Brown: Just over our 65% rule at 66%, the Roos are in a battle for the spoon against the Lions and it looks like no team wants to win it. Coming 4th in the Coleman medal in a team that is down the bottom is a good effort and the Roos will be looking to hit him up at every opportunity to get the win and avoid the spoon.

Taking a look at the Bombers game, take your pick of any Essendon player, especially the defenders as they have scored very well in the last 2 weeks against Freo and I expect that to continue again this week.

Mark Baguley: With Hurley out last week he got a boost in fantasy scoring with a 92 in DreamTeam and 110 in SuperCoach thanks to 25 possessions and 9 marks from 89% TOG. Hurley is missing again this week so look to add him where he is owned by 41% of teams.

James Harmes: As we have said all year, stream defenders against the Pies as they are horrible when going inside 50. Harmes is in just 63% of teams and there are not many Melbourne defenders left under that 65% threshold. Another option to consider would be Oscar McDonald at 22% ownership, but you would need a big set to run with him. Scored 90 in SuperCoach and 60 in DreamTeam in the Queen’s birthday match.

Thank you everyone for tuning in during the season but be sure to stick around during the off season as we have lots of great content dropping throughout.
