Moving back to move forward

James Sicily: It wasn’t until the middle of 2017 when we started to take notice of James Sicily. Playing forward in a gun Hawks team meant he wasn’t fantasy relevant. But we all took notice of the angry redhead from then as he started pumping out big scores.

What makes Sicily such a value pick this year is the fact his average was affected at the start of the year due to him playing forward. When Sicily made the switch to defence he went on to average 91 in Supercoach and 90 in AFL Fantasy, which if he had played there the whole year would have had him placed just outside the top 10 for defender’s averages.

Currently using the Draft Doctors mock site mock.thedraftdoctors.com.au, Sicily’s ADP is 98 in Supercoach and 78 in both AFL Fantasy and Ultimate footy. By getting a potential top 10 defender in the 8th and 9th rounds just scream value. Get him before your opponents do.

Old dog, new tricks

Shaun Burgoyne: After having defensive status for a long time in his fantasy career, that was taken away from Shaun this year. And with that a lot of people will be looking not to draft him in Supercoach and AFL Fantasy. He does however have forward status in Ultimate Footy and therein lies the value.

As a pure mid people may draft Burgoyne as bench cover or not at all. But with F status he can be a late round lottery pick as your F5. Last year when the Hawks were in trouble in the midfield, Burgoyne was put in there to get the game back on the Hawks terms.

Burgoyne has shown he can still score well as seen in the JLT. While many people may avoid him this year, I’d be happy to use a late round pick on him.

Return to form

Jaeger O’Meara: Its taken 3 years, but O’Meara is building back to peak fitness. We all know he is a super talent averaging in the 90’s in both fantasy formats in his first 2 years of footy.

While we haven’t seen the best of O’Meara, he has displayed his capabilities in the JLT series. When drafting Jaeger he is going to be there in the middle to late rounds as he does come with a bit of risk with his suspect knee.  With an ADP of 151 on the Draft Doctors mock site, he is not going to derail your team as you are not using a high pick on him.

I’m looking at him as my M6 with lots of upside.
