Late Week Pickups – Round 10

Each week I’ll be looking at players who are sitting in the free agency pool that can be used in your matchup that can give you a little extra scoring power. When using these players, I use Ultimate Footy’s ownership of 65% or less to give everyone a go for those that play in bigger leagues.

Jonathon Patton: ‘The General’ is back this week, and no I’m not talking about general soreness. Its big Johnny Patton back in team after going back to the NEAFL to find some form.

In 44% of teams, Patton is up against the Bombers this week. The Bombers have been allowing opposition plenty of shots on goal this year and with no Hurley in the line up this week, Patton should be able to out muscle whoever his opponent is and kick a few.

Harris Andrews: I’ve been a big fan of this kid since he made his debut. In just 42% of teams, Andrews plays as the loose man in defence, Andrews has been averaging 16 possessions a game up 3 from last year and 6.5 marks a game which is what he averaged in 2017.

Andrews is more of your Supercoach player than your AFL fantasy where he is averaging 91 in SC this year and scoring 4 tonnes. Still a good pick in AFL fantasy he has scored in the 80’s the last 2 weeks and up against the Swans this week should be able to continue his good form.

Robbie Tarrant: While we haven’t seen the consistent scores from previous years, Tarrant has been going just ok in 2018. Up against Freo this week on the big Optus stadium there is a good opportunity for Tarrant to get a big score.

In 52% of teams and without a big target in there forward line, we have seen opposition defenders score well against Fremantle. With no target to hit up in the forward 50, Tarrant should be able to pick off any kicks coming inside 50.

Ben Reid: The ghost returns this week as the Pies keeping losing all there forwards to injury. In 39% of teams, Reid comes in against the Dogs to stretch their injury ravaged defence.

In the last 3 times against the Dogs, they have been high scoring affairs with both teams scoring over 90 points each. If this is to continue, expect Ben to be amongst the goal kickers and up on the fantasy points list.
