Late Week Pickups – Round 13
Each week I’ll be looking at players who are sitting in the free agency pool that can be used in your matchup that can give you a little extra scoring power. When using these players, I use Ultimate Footy’s ownership of 65% or less to give everyone a go for those that play in bigger leagues.
Aaron Young: One of the few Gold coast players who turned up to play last week. Young kicked 2 of the Suns 4 goals in their 108-point smashing last week.
In just 43% of teams, this is a winnable game for the Suns who are up against the struggling Saints. Even though both teams are struggling this year, I’m expecting this game to be an open, high scoring game which means Young is likely to get on the end of a few out the back.
Tim Membrey: On the other side of the coin we have Tim Membrey who is in just 54% of teams. As the number 1 forward in the team the Saints will be looking to kick to him at every opportunity.
Membrey has been averaging 16 possessions, 6.5 marks and 3 goals a game the last 3 weeks. With no Steve May in the side to stop him, Membrey is on track for a big one.
Adam Cerra: I can’t believe we didn’t mention this guy on the pod this week. In 46% of teams and looks like he is getting a run through the midfield.
Last week Cerra got a run through the midfield and did a pretty good job. Racking up 111 AFL Fantasy points and 114 Supercoach points, Cerra collected 30 possessions, 6 marks and laid 4 tackles. With Walters out of team, you would think Ross the boss keeps him in the middle.
Paul Puopolo: It’s going to be cold, wet and windy at the MCG on Saturday night, perfect for small pressuring forwards.
In just 10% of teams. ‘Poppy’ has a decent record against the Crows, averaging 90 in Supercoach with his last 3 scores of 151, 94 and 67 and averaging 68 in AFL fantasy with his last 3 scores of 113, 83 and 69. With the conditions on Saturday night we can expect plenty of stoppages and can expect ‘Poppy’ to have plenty of tackles and a few goals on the way for a good score this week.
