Statesman’s Skippers Round 14
Each week I’ll look at captain options for those of us who don’t own Dangerfield, Mitchell, Merrett, Dusty or Kelly. Unfortunately, we all can’t own these players and have to look elsewhere. So, we are going to look at the underbelly of the weekly contests that hopefully can unearth some unique skipper options, including those in the loop hole games. Yes, some will be risky but that could be the difference of you getting your league win and staying in the hunt for finals action this year.
Captain Loophole for Thursday and Friday nights:
Eagles v Essendon
Although he had a down week against the Swans, Andrew Gaff should be great for his owners this week and one of the best loophole options. Zach Merrett has had a down year but a great week to get back on track and worth the punt although Hutchings back in the team is a concern. Yeo smashed out a 130 against the Swans and as always it is about the role, let’s hope its McGovern not Yeo that is swung forward to cover the loss of Kennedy and Darling.
Port v Melbourne
On Friday night you’ve got to think Gawn will hammer the unwell Paddy who has been bravely soldiering on. Rocky and Wingard in the midfield (while it continues) could score well as they did last week. Of course, young jet Clayton Oliver is always worth it as a captain option.
Best unique skipper options from this week remaining clashes:
Hawthorn v Gold Coast
Gun: Isaac Smith: Of course if you have Titch, double down but if not, any Hawthorn midfielder will score well against the Suns and in Launceston the big ground will be great for Isaac’s scoring.
Risky Option: James Sicily: He can go massive and this week he will just clean up, the captain risky of the week is the Sick Dog.
Brisbane v GWS
Gun: Stefan Martin – No Lobb means big day for Stef, has been in fantastic form and GWS giving lots of points away to Ruckman. Great option this week.
Risky Option: Jeremy Cameron. – Can smash out a big score when the team is on top and GWS are now getting back on track and he should get on the scoreboard with some extra service from Kelly & co.
Western Bulldogs v North Melbourne
Gun: Seriously no guns in this game: With Macrae injured, McLean and the Bont with injury concerns and the Kangaroos having a lack of fantasy options try to avoid captain options from this game.
Captain Risky: Josh Dunkley – Not even in the team that’s how risky this is but surely in the mix for midfield time with so many out of the rotations.
Collingwood v Carlton
Gun: Adam Treloar – On ballers are racking them up against the Blues and with Treloar being forth in line for attention he should have a big day out.
Captain Risky: Patrick Cripps – Collingwood give up points in the midfield as they play such an attacking game and this should mean a good day for Paddy.
