Late Week Pickups – Round 15

Each week I’ll be looking at players who are sitting in the free agency pool that can be used in your matchup that can give you a little extra scoring power. When using these players, I use Ultimate Footy’s ownership of 65% or less to give everyone a go for those that play in bigger leagues.

Jack Trengove: It’s good to see Trengove get back on the park after a horrible run with injury. In just 4% of teams he’s easily available in any free agent pool.

Jack’s SANFL form has been good the last 3 weeks averaging 24.5 possessions, 7.5 marks and 5.5 tackles a game. I’m interested as to where the Power are going to play Trengove. I have a feeling they are going to play him off half back or on a wing and use him as a link up player through the middle of the ground.

Curtly Hampton: Finally getting a crack at the big time again after his latest injury setback. Hampton has been performing well the last 3 weeks in the SANFL averaging 25 possessions, 8 tackles and 5 marks a game.

In just 10% of teams, the Crows will be looking to throw Hampton in the guts, especially with CEY still out of the team. The Crows have been lacking big bodies and Hampton can provide that this week. I’m looking for him to score 85+.

Brendon Ah Chee: Back in the team this week after missing the last couple, Ah Chee is back in to give the Eagles some speed after being found out against the Bombers last week.

In just 22% of teams Ah Chee will most likely play on the wing, rotating with Masten on the half forward line.  The Eagles play Adelaide oval well and when they play the Crows the games are generally high scoring affairs, so there will be lots of fantasy points on offer in this game.

Jordan Cunico: When you think Geelong midfielders, Cunico is not the first name you think of. In just his second year of footy Cunico has put up some good scores. He has scored 3 AFL fantasy 90’s and 2 Supercoach 100’s this year in his 10 games.

In 60% of teams and listed as a mid-only, Cunico and the Cats come up against the Bulldogs who have been giving up fantasy points this year. While he may not ‘tonne up’, I’m still expecting a solid score. Look to grab if available in your keeper leagues.

Cam Pedersen: Could be a good bench stash this week after reports of Tommy Mac suffering a bruised lung after last week’s game against Port and my gut feel could be that he is a late out paving the way for Cam Goatersen.

In 27% of teams, the big man has only played the 3 games this year. If McDonald is out expect Pedersen to play deep in the square and kick a bag as the Demons smash the Saints.
