Late Week Pickups – Round 20

Each week I’ll be looking at players who are sitting in the free agency pool that can be used in your matchup that can give you a little extra scoring power. When using these players, I use Ultimate Footy’s ownership of 65% or less to give everyone a go for those that play in bigger leagues.  Some of you may be in the middle of your finals, while some of you are about to climb that mountain for ultimate success, here are some players to help you get over the line in your matchups this week.

Lin Jong: Back in the team this week after his injury in round 15, the Bulldogs will need him to add some added grunt around the contest.

At 16% ownership, it will be interesting how much time he will spend in the midfield, especially with Dunkley performing so well in there at the moment. He will more than likely spend more time forward where he will play as a defensive forward. Jong is great at pressuring his opposition, so he is every chance to win holding the ball free kicks inside 50 and kick goals.

Trent Dumont: At 75% ownership Dumont has had a solid season playing the midfield. Last week he scored 85 AFL Fantasy and 92 Supercoach points from 79% TOG.

In the previous 10 weeks Dumont has had TOG in low to mid 80’s. He should get a bump this week with Shaun Higgins to miss after having minor knee surgery. Dumont build his score through possession and tackles. I would like to see him kick more goals to increase his scoring output.

Bailey Banfield: If there’s one thing we’ve learnt this year is that if you’re a tagger then you will be playing in the midfield. Banfield has been averaging 81% TOG this year, compared to Dylan Shiel who averages 77%

Banfield is in just 40% of teams and has been doing a job on opposition numbers. In his last 3 games he has averaged 83 AFL Fantasy and 84 Supercoach points. Ross Lyon will certainly employ a tag again this weekend.
