Injuries for Round 22

Good day to you, kind reader.

This will likely be my last week writing this article for the year, as every single one of you are either heading into your grand final, celebrating a triumphant win, or licking your wounds from a devastating loss. Either way, I hope you have enjoyed my injury reports (rants), and I plan on being back next year.

Tigers vs Bombers

The battle of the stripes was only ever going to go one way, though to be fair, I had expected a little more injury carnage as both teams run 100mph (geez Cam we use km here duh) into every contest. Happy to report that there were no injuries. Lots of bumps and bruises, but nothing that will stop people playing next week.

Pies vs Power

Jordan De Dodgey left the field in the last quarter and spent the rest of the game with icing on his leg. Bucks has come out and said this was a precaution, but owners beware…

Prognosis – No issue… yet

Potential Waiver Pickup – No waiver… yet

Jack Watts copped a knock to his leg in the first quarter and returned midway through the second after getting some treatment. Shout-out to everyone who thought he would stand up in the absence of Dixon. Don’t forget, it’s still Jack Watts….

Prognosis – 54 AFLFantasy lol – No issue

Potential Waiver Pickup – No waiver

Cats vs Dockers

I’m sorry I have to do this.. It hurts me to say it… but… it’s finally time to officially add Dockers Fans to the injury list. It hurts when your team loses, I get it. It hurts even more when your score is doubled… terrible pain. But when it’s 5x over… sheesh. This is a mercy add. Take the rest of the year off…. Focus on the cricket… or EPL… or your family.

Prognosis – Season

Potential Waiver Pickup – Pray for trades

Daniel Menzel and Harry Taylor were both rested late in the contest as they try to build their workloads going into the finals. I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Prognosis – No issue

Potential Waiver Pickup – No waiver

Nathan Wilson, the guy that last week I mistakenly reported as making a comeback in the NEAFL (aka Zac Williams [surely, they are the same person]) copped a massive hit from Mitch Duncan and went to the bench to be taught how to breathe again.

Prognosis – The Prodigy – Breathe – No issue

Potential Waiver Pickup – No waiver

Giants vs Swans

Looks like Ryan Griffen is done for the year, suffering a hammy whomp in the third term. Realistically if you’re still in a final, he probably isn’t in your team.

Prognosis – Season

Potential Waiver Pickup – Kelly to come back in, though if he is on your waiver, I assume you are playing with yourself… and that sounded way more sexual than intended.

Lions vs Suns

Ahh the Q-Clash. Always a delight…ful catastrophe. Not the best-looking game, but at least it was damn close.

Withers has put together a year that will likely earn him the Rising Star award, and luckily for him he has already cemented his credentials. He womped his hammy in the first quarter, sending many coaches into meltdown. I’ll post the community outreach group location, time and number in the coming days.

Prognosis – Season

Potential Waiver Pickup – Surely you aren’t looking here for a replacement for your Granny…. Ben Keays will go close, as will Sam Mayes. I would be surprised if they don’t throw a Debut to Corey Lyons.

Hawks vs Saints

The least known captain in the AFL, Jarryn Geary (aka. Wait, him?) was concussed in the final quarter. I’m usually cautious with concussions, but with an eight day turn around, should be fine.

Prognosis – No issue

Potential Waiver Pickup – No waiver

Jack Steven looked to be favouring a knee towards the end of the game, definitely one to watch.

Prognosis – No issue… yet

Blues vs Dogs

The Bont managed to lumber his way through the game, however is carrying back and hip complaints. Don’t drop him just yet, but don’t expect him to play next week…

Prognosis – Season

Potential Waiver Pickup – Lin Jong should get some increased minutes, though your differential to Bont will be significant. Look elsewhere.

Eagles vs Demons

Jack Darling hurt a lot of coaches this week hoping for a big bag, instead giving them a big bag of shit. Was unfortunately KTFO early in the game.

Prognosis – Season

Potential Waiver Pickup – Matthew Allen to make his debut next week, though I wouldn’t touch him in a final.

Crows vs Roos

Brodiggity was a late out this week. Murmurs about this being just a corked calf that didn’t come good by game time. Should be good-to-go next week.

Prognosis – No issue

Potential Waiver Pickup – No waiver

Doedee looks to have suffered a collarbone injury and will miss the rest of the season.

Prognosis – Season

Potential Waiver Pickup – If Seeds hit your waiver in his absence due to his terrible run of form, pick him right on back up. Otherwise I expect Jake Kelly to stay in the side to cover.
