Late Week Pickups – Round 1

Each week I’ll be looking at players who are sitting in the free agency pool that can be used in your matchup that can give you a little extra scoring power. When using these players, I use Ultimate Footy’s ownership of 65% or less to give everyone a go for those that play in bigger leagues.

Being round 1 there won’t be too many on this list as we should all have a line-up set from our drafts.

Peter Wright: Having watched Peter over the JLT he showed impressive form. With Handsome Tom moving to Richmond, Wright is now the main man in that forward line. While his score build will predominantly be kicks, marks and goals, it looks like Wright will be pinch hitting as the ruckman when Witts needs a spell.

Wright and the Suns are up against the Saints this week, where their defence has been decimated by injuries. Wright has a very good average against the Saints in the past, averaging 93 in SuperCoach and 84 in AFL Fantasy. He is owned in just 47% of teams, so if you haven’t settled on your final forward, look to add Peter Wright for this week against the Saints and watch the points roll in.

Adam Saad:  This is more of a SuperCoach play than an AFL Fantasy one. Saad is in just 28% of teams. We know from history that GWS give up points to opposition defenders and in Saad’s last 2 games against GWS he ha scored 83 and 103. He did score and 86 in AFL Fantasy last game, but I’m more comfortable with him in SuperCoach.
