Each week I’ll be looking at players who are sitting in the free agency pool that can be used in your matchup that can give you a little extra scoring power. When using these players, I use Ultimate Footy’s ownership of 65% or less to give everyone a go for those that play in bigger leagues.

With round 2 upon us and those team and player matchups are still working themselves out, especially with the 6/6/6 rule. Here’s who I’m looking at this week.

David Mirra: In just 17% of teams, Mirra started off well against the Crows last week with a score of 85 in SuperCoach and 76 in AFL Fantasy. The Hawks are up against this week who aren’t renowned for their accuracy going inside 50.

Last week against the Dogs, some of the Swans defenders, especially Jones, Rampe and Lloyd all scored well due to the Dogs hacking the ball inside 50. Mirra builds his score on kicks, marks and handballs. One thing we know is that Hawthorn like to retain possession and move the ball with precise kicks so there will be plenty of opportunity for MIrra to get the ball.

Harry Taylor: For a guy who was fantasy relevant only a few years ago, Taylor’s fantasy output certainly has tanked. It seems in 2019 that he might be somewhat relevant again. In 22% of teams, it seems he has a new role in the Geelong backline.

His JLT form was good. While he only played 15 minutes in JLT 1, he played 94 minutes in JLT 2 where he had 23 possessions and 8 marks for 84 AFL Fantasy and 107 SuperCoach points. In round 1 he scored similar with 71 AFL Fantasy and 100 SuperCoach points. Taylor is up against Melbourne at GMHBA stadium who struggled in round 1 against Port Adelaide. If he continues like this, he could be a handy stash on your benches for the remainder of the season.
