Each week I’ll be looking at players who are sitting in the free agency pool that can be used in your matchup that can give you a little extra scoring power. When using these players, I use Ultimate Footy’s ownership of 65% or less to give everyone a go for those that play in bigger leagues.

Lachie Plowman:  The Blues defenders have been scoring well of late and Plowman is no exception. In 32% of teams, Plowman and the Blues are up against the Hawks this week who generally give up points to opposition defenders.

Plowman has had a good start to the year where he has averaged 85 SuperCoach and 70 AFL Fantasy points. His last 2 matches have returned scores of 104 and 84 SuperCoach and 85 and 86 AFL Fantasy points. This is due to Plowman getting more of the ball where he is up 4 kicks and 1 tackle a game from 2018.

Lewis Taylor: In just 42% of teams, Taylor is in for his first game of 2019. While he is listed as a forward, I expect Taylor to play high half forward/wing.

In terms of fantasy scoring he is someone who will produce a solid mid 70 who can throw in the occasional 100. Taylor is more your AFL Fantasy scorer due to his lack of contested ball but still worthy of a late week pickup especially against Steve’s Gold Coast Suns this week.

Cam McCarthy: Its not often I would suggest McCarthy be in your team, but when he is up against the Western Bulldogs who are one of the worst teams to give up marks inside defensive 50 and a terrible defensive structure, then I am going to suggest him.

In 46% of teams, the Dockers forwards should have a field day, especially after what Carlton did to the Dogs defence. With Taberner and Hogan to get the better defenders, that will probably leave McCarthy with Caleb Daniel. McCarthy is averaging 14 possessions, 4marks and 2.5 goals a game in 2019.
