In Dozen Deals we use BUY, SELL, HOLD, ADD or DROP. With a view based on a 10 team 22 player roster, buy, sell, drop, and hold will apply to players that will generally be owned, while add will go for those you may find on the waiver wire.
Crunch time with byes is all but here. Those enjoying themselves at the top of the ladder can use this time to capitalise. Have a 1st bye player like Libba? Hopefully he scores well this week, you hold through the bye, then try to upgrade to a player with a week 2nd or 3rd player on a team pushing for wins. They get one less 0 on field, you can get a non Bevo coached player, happy days.
Of course nothing is as simple as that, but that’s the sort of thing that can help a trade get over the line.
Bye 1 teams – Essendon, Fremantle, Hawthorn, Bulldogs, St Kilda, Port Adelaide.
BUY – Stephen Coniglio
Every week he doesn’t ton up makes him a buy. A bruised knee limited him here, and he’s a premo come finals time. As long as you’re not just keeping your head above water, desperate for wins, it’s time to start turning attention to seasons end.
BUY – Ed Langdon
The sort of player that could be attainable. Ed has looked a little off the past few weeks, but being a younger player, the bye may serve him well. Langdon has been on the wing, Blakely shouldn’t affect him.
BUY – Jeremy Howe
Tom Langdon will be out a couple of weeks, maybe more. Darcy Moore should return. With the pieces available, Howe makes sense as an interceptor. Howe spent a large chunk of time on Buddy and Sam Reid, players you’d expect to see Moore and Roughead on when both are available.
ADD – Aaron Hall
A little more speculative, and there’s gonna be a bit of cheating on the ‘65%’ front this week as the waivers feel a little barren to me. New coach in, and 30 touches in the VFL.
BUY – Ed Curnow
Played a lot of time on the wing. He’s a veteran and Bolton needs the best available around the ball. Paddy Dow and SPS were pushed forward. If you play SC, Ed may have even made it to free agency. Possible return to his ball winning ways as Carlton look to stem the bleeding.
SELL – Reilly O’Brien
If someone will take him, it’s time. Sam Jacobs is returning from injury, and while he’s no guarantee to unseat Reilly, it’s still a risk. Worth exploring, at least.
ADD – Matthew Broadbent/Hamish Hartlett
Both over the threshold, but if either is around have a look, Broady is working his way into form nicely, and Hartlett should return soon.
ADD – James Parsons
Clearly the only remaining Scott brother likes Parsons, dropping Constable for him. Parsons was decent, so jump on. Forwards have been looking a little lean.
ADD – James Cousins
May have been dropped in a few leagues after cooling off, but has done well since getting suspended. Playing a bit forward so the potential for DPP is there, but don’t pick him up thinking he’ll be a forward.
HOLD – Jarrod Berry
It will be a rough 4 weeks with Berry sidelined right around byes, but there’s not much other choice here. Don’t see anyone taking an injured player on around the byes.
SELL – Marty Hore
Time to get rid of Marty. Lever is coming back, and while he may not impact Hore straight away, there’s the chance Marty won’t be putting up numbers come finals.
BUY – Alex Witherden
Underperforming the past 5 weeks and worst game of the year on Sunday. Witherden is clearly talented and can make a nice add in to a trade.
is Seb Ross a good buy low target? offering Shaw and CEY for Seb Ross, is that a good trade?
I like it. The thing with Seb is that he is inconsistent. Even last year he was up and down, but a strong finish might’ve boosted him in some drafts.
Looking to the end of the season, I’d feel more comfortable with Ross than CEY. So it depends on how you can handle the loss of Shaw. I’d see if there’s the possibility to get a lesser defender back, or see if there’s a decent replacement on the waiver wire.
Feels like a risk, but all good trades are.

I normally hold off until “Dozen Deals” column is up. Your thoughts on the young Bulldog, I’m sitting pretty on top of our league, do I need to be adventurous with the Lipinski add. Cheers

Lipinski has shown a bit for a young player, and for all the talk about Bevo, he’s willing to give young players a run. I was just reading up on Bevo’s comments prior to playing North, he’s had Lipinski playing inside mid in the VFL. Not sure that was (or will be) the case at AFL level, but looks like he’ll get some good mid time, especially with Wallis out.
If the waivers for forwards in your league is anything like mine, I’d say he’s worth stashing for a few weeks. Who knows, Bulldogs are always a bit of a coin toss, worst case scenario he ends up back on the waiver wire, best case he goes on a run like Toby McLean in the back end of 2017.

Hey Howie, DPP is always a bit of a crapshoot, especially since we don’t get the relevant info that they use to make the changes, and even then, some sites (like UF) still won’t change.
That said, Jack Sinclair would be on the fringe, but could pick up forward status. Apart from him, I’m struggling to find much. I mostly play SC, where we get neglected for the DPPs, sadly, so I may have missed some.
Some bigger names that have spent time up forward would be Zorko and Coniglio. Not sure Conigs gets enough time forward, and they’re likely to waive it away as injury caused.
Zorko has been killing it, and it does feel like they’re less likely to give DPP to the big names, on top of the premium cost to trade for.
Bryce Gibbs seems to be playing outside the midfield, but he’s not really playing. Similar with Seedsman, who played forward but it was only his first game last round.
Hopefully you’re able to strike on someone, though!
thanks for the reply dude really appreciate the info, I will have a look at some off the guys you mentioned, it can be a massive advantage in fantasy to pick up someone about to receive DPP status before their value rockets, an example would be sidebottom 2 seasons ago when they gave him fwd status avging 100, such a bonus, cheers for the help brother

Hey Sam, what do you think of H Perryman as an add in SC? And how have you seen his role in the last couple of weeks, ie is his form likely to continue etc

Perryman is another young player running up and down a wing, looks like really nice add. He’s kicking a lot (1.5 K:H), and has a disposal efficiency over 75%. That’s a golden combo for SuperCoach. Only way he’s scoring more is if he can hit the scoreboard or get some score assists.
Young guys tend to be the ones that can get shuffled around, so I’d say his form should hold up, but I’m not sure on the role. Can’t see anyone taking it though, which is a good sign.
For now, he’s got a nice wing role and I’d be satisfied with him just cranking out consistent scores in your defence. Nice one!

On another note, do you have any thoughts on Wingard as a buy low? Didn’t catch the game on the weekend but I noticed the shovel next to his name on FanFooty, so wondering if he got some time through the guts. Also considering his scoring after the role change last year, and Hawthorn’s soft run in SC finals outside the GWS game in round 21.

Cheers Will, appreciate it. I think the specifics are what make draft great. There’s no single approach like with salary, so everyone is an option in a given league. Makes these scenarios better to dive into!
Yeah, definitely seems Kelly has been starting at the centre bounce with Taranto/Hopper/De Boer.
Suppose the concern is once Coniglio is fully fit taking the time in the centre, Kelly maybe go to the wing a little more, cutting down time for Perryman. It does feel like Tomlinson could be shifted off the other wing, as they like to use him basically everywhere.
Keep an eye out this week, especially when Conigs gets to the centre.
As for Wingard, he did play a decent bit of midfield (I’d say toward 50/50) on the weekend and was at a couple centre bounces. With Chad you’re always playing the risk reward game on his health and role.
His talent is undeniable, and he’s in the 25-27 age bracket. Then you look at the Hawks midfield run by O’Meara, Shiels, Worpel. I think Chad gives them something different to those 3. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get a bit of time to switch things up.
I’d say he’s a pretty even risk/reward. I’m not selling the farm to get him, but I’m testing the waters.

Sorry I didn’t get back earlier! Wingard showed his full risk on the weekend with him tweaking the hammy (and playing a bit forward). Your midfield sounds pretty full (just hope Sloane is ok) so a move like that would make sense.
Hopefully Wingard comes up alright after scans. Before the weekend that was a good deal, and come finals it may still pay dividends.
Just gotta ride out this rough patch through byes (I have Sloane, Berry and Menegola so I’m feeling the pain, too!)

I’ve heard a lot of people talk shit about gus Brayshaw for classic leagues, but what do we do with him in draft? He was my first pick in a redraft league. I’m currently sitting on top of the ladder, should I just hold onto him in the hopes he gets a role change or do I bite the bullet and look to trade him.
If I do trade him what sort of mid would be a fair offer?

Hey B, sorry I didn’t get back to you last week, bit rough to have him performing the way he is, but there’s hope! Gus was at a lot of centre bounces and looks to be back in the middle. Dees played well, too (apart from goalkicking, but that’s hardly on Gussy!) so I don’t see him moving out.
If you want to move him, I’d hold off a week or two. Queens Birthday is a big stage and if he plays in the midfield it will be noticed and there should be offers based around that continuing. But it’s a bit of a lucky dip at this stage! I’d say this weekend has shown he could be back to the middle.
