Statesman’s Skippers Round 11 2019

Each week we’ll look at captain options outside the big boys as there is only one Brodie Grundy in each league. So, we are going to look at the underbelly of the weekly contests that hopefully can unearth some unique skipper options, including those in the loop hole games. Yes some will be risky but that could be the difference of you getting your league win and stay in the hunt for finals action this year.

Captain Loophole

Not the best week for vice-captain loopholes with two of the least fantasy relevant teams up against each other on Friday night. With Nank the Tank out it should be a decent night for Goldy who pump out a massive score last week. Dusty looks back in form and Ellis can go big. The Roos are going to be interesting as we have a new boss at the helm. If you have them take a punt with Zebs, Higgins and Dumont and just see what happens.

Best unique skipper options from this week remaining clashes:

Collingwood v Fremantle

Gun: Brodie Grundy: Becoming the best fantasy player for 2019 after a slow start, Averaging 150 over the last three weeks.
Captain Risky: Steele Sidebottom: After a good run of form over the last month he was closed down last week by Ryan Clarke, think he bounces back this week.

GWS v Gold Coast

Gun: Lachie Whitfield: Captain obvious here I know, but the potential is huge for this man against the Suns.
Captain Risky: Fiorini: A Suns midfielder will receive the De Boer tag, you got to think that is going to be Brayden Fiorini. So we can now see if you can handle it.

Geelong v Sydney

Gun: Mitch Duncan: Well what a hot run of form, and looks likely to continue at least for another week. Swans giving up some points and he is less likely to be tagged.
Captain Risky: Tim Kelly: He is quality but Ryan Clarke is quickly becoming a giant killer and you go to think that Tim will get the attention this week.

Brisbane v Hawthorn

Gun: Ricky Henderson: A remarkable season for someone that was picked up so late in drafts. Averaging 120+ in his last three games and 143 last week and should score well again this week.
Captain Risky: Lachie Neale: With only 2 tons in his past 6 games and a three-game average of 97 his form is not one that inspires captain’s confidence, but he is up against the Hawks this weekend, things may change.

Melbourne v Adelaide

Gun: Brad Crouch: No Matt for the last two weeks means he is averaging 120 and he has increased his game time, it won’t last long so if you own him enjoy and look to sell high.
Captain Risky: Angus Brayshaw: Most are very unhappy with Gus at the moment, but did we start to see him back inside late last week? If so and you held it will be rewarded.

St Kilda v Port Adelaide

Gun: Jack Steele: Was expected to have a big year, and although he was a little slow to start is now hitting some great form. Expect him to go big.
Captain Risky: Travis Boak: Could be massive but would expect him to have to deal with Jack Steele’s two way running.

Essendon v Carlton

Gun: Zac Merrett: Has been in great form and will only get more midfield time with Dylan Shiel out.
Captain Risky: Nic Newman: Simpson out, Newman will only go bigger, especially with so many out of the Essendon forward line.

West Coast v Western Bulldogs

Gun: Andrew Gaff: I don’t know how many times I will have regret that I just never seem to have him in any of my teams. Hope I learn one day.
Captain Risky: The Bont: Forward or midfielder that is the question, and if we knew which and when we will all be better for it. Sadly no chance of that.
