Each week we’ll look at captain options outside the big boys as there is only one Brodie Grundy in each league. So, we are going to look at the underbelly of the weekly contests that hopefully can unearth some unique skipper options, including those in the loop hole games. Yes some will be risky but that could be the difference of you getting your league win and stay in the hunt for finals action this year.
So this is our last double hit at the loophole so have a crack. Thursday’s game does gives us three of the big four at the Giants, with Kelly, Cogs and Timmy T set to go big, even if they get the Clarke attention. Zerrett, Heppell and Zaka are also worth a crack for the Don’s.
Friday is a massive night too with the Cats up against the Crows and we should see some massive scores in the midfield with neither likely to tag. For a risky option it could be a night for Tom Hawkins to bounce back big time.
Best unique skipper options from this week remaining clashes:
Hawthorn v West Coast Eagles
Gun: Andrew Gaff: He has had a couple of quiet games, but teams are scoring well against the Hawks so take your reward if you own him.
Captain Risky: Brad Sheppard. Started the season so well but has slowed down, but if we learn from our last visit with Steve Fizz-iotherapy we know that backmen go big against Hawthorn.
Note: Steve Fizz-iotherapy is thanks to AFL player names abroad.
Not exactly an AFL player name, but if you’re an AFL fantasy draft player worth his salt, you should be well aware of the surly @StevieFizz. Maybe ‘fizz-iotherapy’ could be a new segment on the pod? I’d love @Statesman33’s opinion on this drop. pic.twitter.com/8UEzoYhPwG— AFL Player Names Abroad (@AFLnamesABROAD) June 25, 2019
Sydney v Gold Coast
Gun: Luke Parker: Bang, Bang he shot me down. Wow he has gone big in recent times and up against the Suns this week. Enjoy.
Captain Risky: George Horlin-Smith: If you had been listening to Cam preseason……this was his lock for the year. It’s a low blow but at least I am having fun.
Collingwood v North Melbourne
Gun: Brodie Grundy: Even when injured he can still smash games, think he is in for an honour by the trader’s boys very soon. A well-deserved one I might add.
Captain Risky: Scott Pendlebury: Beams and Adams out should have been a blessing, but the bull coming from VFL has meant less mid time for the boss, disappointing!
Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs
Gun: Jack Macrae: This guy just has a massive ceiling and with Libba out has piled on a 140 then followed up with a 180. Owners may want Libba out for good…sorry Libba.
Captain Risky: Ollie Wines: No Rocky should mean good amount of time in the guts, was a little slow week one but might just be worth a punt if the loop hole does not work for you.
St Kilda v Richmond
Gun: Dusty: The boy is back, it took some time and there were many doubters but Dusty of 2017 is here and hopefully back to stay. Against the Saints without Steele it should be a good one.
Captain Risky: Jack Billings: The form is good, although we still have not got to the point of trusting he can go big week in week out. Hopefully soon.
Brisbane v Melbourne
Gun: Max Gawn: Stef and the Big O will make him work for it, but he is good enough to get the job done. Pick him and relax, although keep the target closer to 110 this week.
Captain Risky: Lachie Neale: I did cop it a little earlier in the year saying he might turn out to be a solid mid not an ultra-premium. Last 5 average of 94 sadly proves I was right, Harmes his man this week.
Fremantle v Carlton
Gun: Patrick Cripps: Fremantle has not used a tag this year, only think one will be used if he gives the Blues a chance to win. Should have a decent day.
Captain Risky: Brad Hill: Outstanding run by this man and could really expose the blues on Sunday and worth a cheeky punt as captain if you don’t have other good match ups.
