Late Week Pickups -Round 16

Each week I’ll be looking at players who are sitting in the free agency pool that can be used in your matchup that can give you a little extra scoring power. When using these players, I use Ultimate Footy’s ownership of 65% or less to give everyone a go for those that play in bigger leagues.

We are now at the pointy end of the season with some leagues starting finals or just about to commence their finals campaigns. Good luck to all and bring home that title!

Mason Wood: In 53% of teams and up against the Saints. Th Saints have been giving up goals to opposition teams the last couple of weeks and with the Roo’s inform since Brad Scott’s departure, there should be plenty of goals on offer for Wood.

Wood has been in good form over the last month with 3 scores in the 90’s in AFL Fantasy and 2 in Supercoach with a 111 thrown in there as well. Wood builds his score through predominantly through goals and marks. With Sideshow Brown as the deep forward, it allows Wood to push up the ground to get a few more touches as well.

Tom Jonas: Jonas has been in good form the last 3 weeks with 2 Supercoach 100’s in the last 3 weeks. While his AFL Fantasy scores haven’t been as great, he does have a good record against the Crows.

Jonas is in 55% of teams and with the showdown this week he has scored 2 Supercoach 100’s and had 2 scores in the mid 90’s from his last 3 showdown appearances. One thing the Crows have done this year is give up points to opposition defender and this should continue this week.

Sam Reid and Aliir Aliir: With Sinclair out with a dislocated shoulder, the Swans have decided against to bring in Dos boy Michael Knoll with whom the Swans picked up in the mid-season draft. With Reid in 55% of teams and named in the ruck position, it would seem he will get first crack at the ruck duties. Aliir is in 58% of teams and we have seen him take some ruck contests the last couple of weeks.

Braydon Preuss: If you are short a ruckman then Preuss can be a handy stash, especially with the injury concern to Max Gawn. Preuss is in 52% of teams and has shown he can score quite well in fantasy football.

The last one I like is Robbie Tarrant. He is in 36% of teams and one thing we know this year is that the Saints leak points to defenders. If you are short a defender look to grab Tarrant out of your pool.
