Each week I’ll be looking at players who are sitting in the free agency pool that can be used in your matchup that can give you a little extra scoring power. When using these players, I use Ultimate Footy’s ownership of 65% or less to give everyone a go for those that play in bigger leagues.

We are now at the pointy end of the season with some leagues starting finals or just about to commence their finals campaigns. Good luck to all and bring home that title!

This week the Crows are taking on Steve’s favourite team in the Gold Coast Suns. The Suns are coasting to a wooden spoon and the number 1 pick. With the Crows poor performance in the showdown, they will be looking to bounce back. Last week we saw Richmond and their small forwards fill up on goals and fantasy points. I am expecting the Crows to respond, and the Crows small forwards should be in the thick of it. Eddie Betts has had a horrible year fantasy wise and at 19% ownership has averaged 86 supercoach and 70 AFL Fantasy against the Suns.

The Saints are travelling down to GMHBA stadium to take on the Cats and they would be stinging after last weeks loss to the Bulldogs. Similar to the Suns, the Saints are just waiting for round 23 to end so they can start their mad Monday. I’m looking at Cats forwards this week, and if you don’t own Hawkins there are plenty of options available. Gary Rohan is at 11% ownership. He has had some good scores this year and should punish the Saints. Also available are Esava Ratugolea at 8% ownership and Gryan Miers at 63%.

After 6,457 days my boy Grant Birchall is back! And surprisingly is sitting in 50% of teams. My question is who has been holding him this long? Never mind he’s back and one thing we know is that defenders score well against Freo and Birchall has a career average of 84 Supercoach and 83 AFL Fantasy points against the Dockers.
