Statesman’s Skippers R22

Each week we’ll look at captain options outside the big boys as there is only one Brodie Grundy in each league.  So, we are going to look at the underbelly of the weekly contests that hopefully can unearth some unique skipper options, including those in the loop hole games.  Some will be risky but that could be the difference of you getting your league win and stay in the hunt for finals action this year.

Captain Loophole

For many of us it is preliminary final week, good luck to those still in the finals race, Not you CAM.  This week you either have the gun VC in Max Gawn or like me you have a lottery ticket.  As always it is still worthwhile to look at a VC option even if you don’t think they are captain material.  Ollie Florent scored 113 last week for example of a risk/reward pick.

Best unique skipper options from this week remaining clashes:

Carlton v St Kilda

Gun: Patrick Cripps:   Understand he has been a roller coaster ride this year but as the Saints have not seemed to be interested in the tag under Ratten he should be fine for a big one.

Captain Risky:  Dan Han: Two tons in his three games this year but as we know is an injury risk.

Brisbane v Geelong

Gun: Dayne Zorko: His hamstring was so sore he could only score 130 this week, expected a late out but he found away to pull another “Great Zorko” trick.  Expect another this week.

Captain Risky: Patrick Dangerfield:  That knee has me concerned, selection, late out.  But also when not expected he can go massive.

Adelaide v Collingwood

Gun:  Brodie Grundy: Really don’t care who is against him, he is a PIG.

Captain Risky:  Rory Laird: Captain Risky of the week, Pies give up points to defenders and this is the best man to benefit from this.

North Melbourne v Port Adelaide

Gun:  Todd Goldstein:  Unsure if risky or not but my gut says he will expose the younger Power ruckman.

Captain Risky: Travis Boak: Last week was awful, got to expect the bounce back but I am mindful of the Ollie Wines factor.

Fremantle v Essendon

Gun: Zac Merrett:  Dockers are unlikely to tag and are giving up some good points so he should go ham.

Captain Risky: Nat Fyfe: Risky only due to the potential tag, but if he can be stopped is another question.

Richmond v West Coast Eagles

Gun:  Elliot Yeo: Big game, big time player.  His tackle pressure will pump it up to a big score.

Captain Risky: Jack Graham: Unsure he can go near his 146 from last week but without the skipper he has a great role.

GWS v Western Bulldogs

Gun:  Jack McnextPIG: Just knows how to build a big score, Love him if you own him.

Captain Risky: Josh Kelly: Gun, but the Bulldogs are hard to score against in recent times.

Hawthorn v Gold Coast Suns

Gun:  James Worpel:  Had a wonderful second half of the season when most expected him to fade.

Captain Risky: Retiring Roughy: You gotta think they will be trying to feed hm, farewell you star

Good luck Roughy, well done on a great career
