Each week I’ll be looking at players who are sitting in the free agency pool that can be used in your matchup that can give you a little extra scoring power. When using these players, I use Ultimate Footy’s ownership of 65% or less to give everyone a go for those that play in bigger leagues.
While watching the Giants and North game last week, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Aaron Hall lining up at the centre bounce. Hall ended up attending 9 for the match, which is encouraging considering he was as good as cooked in 2019.
Hall is in just 62% of teams and while his scores haven’t been great, Rhyce Shaw is willing to throw him in the guts where we have seen him score well in the past. North are up against Sydney this week and with no Naismith and Goldy in ominous form, you can expect Hall to get some hit outs palmed down his way.
I’m torn between who to pick here. Both Todd Marshall 29% owned, and Charlie Dixon 59% owned can score big against Fremantle this week, especially without their key defender Joel Hamling still missing.
Marshall was good against the Crows, with 64 AF and 124 SC thanks to his 90% efficiency and 6 contested possessions and scored 64 AF and 127 SC.
While we haven’t seen the big scores from Dixon just yet, his history against Fremantle says he is on target for a big one. His last 4 scores against Fremantle in SuperCoach have returned a 112, 76, 112 and 109, while in AFL Fantasy, Dixon has delivered 96, 97, 74 and 92.
Connor Mckenna has been named on the extended team lists for this weekend for his first game back since the pandemic and it we will have to wait for teams to be named to see if he makes the final cut. In 60% of teams, Mckenna has scored well in his 2 games against Melbourne with a 61 and 104 in SC and 79 and 80 in AF.
Cale Hooker is more a SuperCoach play than AFL Fantasy. Hooker is in 52% of teams and up against Melbourne. Hooker is in 52% of teams and has returned scores of 85/90/84 in his last 3 against Melbourne. With Melbourne tending to bomb the ball inside 50, Hooker should be able to intercept the ball coming inside and return you a handy score as your D5
