Each week I’ll be looking at players who are sitting in the free agency pool that can be used in your matchup that can give you a little extra scoring power. When using these players, I use Ultimate Footy’s ownership of 65% or less to give everyone a go for those that play in bigger leagues.

Matthew Scharenberg comes back into the team this week off the back of Howe’s season ending injury. In just 37% of teams, we have seen Scharenberg score well playing off half back as the interceptor. When fit and firing, we have seen Scharenberg average in the mid 70’s for AFL Fantasy and 80 in Supercoach.

Another defender who is likely to get a bump due to Howe’s injury is Darcy Moore. He is in just 34% of teams and we know he is very capable of taking intercept marks along the defensive 50. Either of these are worth holding on to as well as it has been stated that Jordan Roughead may not travel to WA and enter the hub due to his partner having a medical episode, so one will maintain their scoring, while the other may play as the lockdown defender.

Mitch Hibberd could be the man to really p155 off Parish owners as he comes in for his first game for the Bombers. Hibberd is in due to Merrett’s suspension and was training with the midfield group in the pre-season. In just 22% of teams, Hibberd gets his opportunity to show off his wares, even if it is just for one week.

The Hawks are playing GWS this week and we all know that means stream defenders against them. While Frost last week was a bust, I feel Blake Hardwick will get the job done this week. In 55% of teams, Hardwick has a good average against the Giants, averaging 77.5 SuperCoach and 70 AFL Fantasy. Plus, he’s playing against the Giants, what could possi-blye go wrong?

Last but not least is mainly a SuperCoach play. Ryan Lester the man keeping Alex Witherden from getting a game and frustrating coaches in the process. Lester is in just 6% of teams but has an average of 81 in SuperCoach this year. Lester has had scores of 60/106 and 78 this year. Although they are up against Port who have been stingy giving up points, the defenders have been getting a look in as Port have been a high scoring brand of footy.
