Statesman’s Skippers Round 6 2020
Each week we will look at captain options outside the big boys as there is only one Brodie Grundy in each league. So, we are going to look at the underbelly of the weekly contests that hopefully can unearth some unique skipper options, including those in the loop hole games. Some will be risky but that could be the difference of you getting your league win and stay in the hunt for finals action this year.
For most of this season we will have a double chance for the loophole captain, therefore every single team should have genuine captain option, if you are smart to should be able to gain a win or two this season by using your vice-captain and bench loopholes. Use your waivers and gain the edge.
Of course the great Lachie Neale will be the best loophole option this week, but Suitcase, Danger, Jelwood, Grundy, Pendles, Titchell, Treloar and many others are worth the VC this week.
Best unique skipper options from this week remaining clashes:
Fremantle v St Kilda
Gun: Jack Steele: They are favourites this week so will be interesting if he gets a role or runs free. Either way he should score well for owners.
Captain Risky: Blake Acres: You normally see players go really well first up but also up against the club that let him go so will have a point to prove. Expect a decent score this week for the very patient owners.
West Coast Eagles v Adelaide Crows
Gun: Matt Crouch: Was back last week after getting dropped and no surprise he pumped out a decent captain score. The Eagles have also been giving up good scores so enjoy the match up.
Captain Risky: Dom Sheed: As soon as Shuey went down it was Sheed Island szn. Great match up and hopefully some more CBA’s and he should fly this week.
Melbourne v Gold Coast
Gun: Max Gawn: Up against a good opponent this week but should not stop him tonning up again.
Captain Risky: THE GOAT: With Rowell out the logical choice is Fiorini. The risk is if he gets selected, and if he gets CBA’s. If it is yes to both – BINGPOT!
Essendon v North Melbourne
Gun: Dylan Shiel: Form has been sensational, Corona Ball is his bag baby! Such a value pick now in hindsight, well done to those that got him.
Captain Risky: Goldy: Seriously should be in the top three scorers for the round but now spending time deep forward (resting) is not a good sign for owners. Xerri out will be a very good sign for his score.
Port v GSW
Gun: Lachie Whitfield: Yes Port are harder to score against but when you are this talented, who will stop you. Sadly I don’t own him anywhere.
Captain Risky: Butters that’s me: Topped the scores for the Power last week, although I really can’t see this happening again this week, he deserves a mention as he has had two really good scores this year.
Richmond v Sydney
Gun: Luke Parker: With an undermanned midfielder he should get the job done this week for his owners.
Captain Risky: Jack Graham: At this stage we don’t know who will get the roles in a new revamped Tiger midfield. But this lad has already shown us he can go big. Some great waiver wire options in the next month from this club.
Carlton v Western Bulldogs
Gun: Patrick Cripps: Scored 70 in the second half last weekend, should not get anywhere as much attention, hopefully can restore some faith for owners this week.
Captain Risky: Bulldog’s midfielders: Because you just don’t know what role they will play this week!
Good luck in your leagues this week, unless you are playing me!
