Each week I’ll be looking at players who are sitting in the free agency pool that can be used in your matchup that can give you a little extra scoring power. When using these players, I use Ultimate Footy’s ownership of 65% or less to give everyone a go for those that play in bigger leagues.

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, my boy Grant Birchall gets a run this week. In just 46% of teams, we know defenders against GWS is pretty much a guaranteed score. Birchall has played GWS only a few times but has scored well in both formats.

Birchall averages 82 in AFL Fantasy and 85 in SuperCoach and when the Giants have gone inside 50 the ball has generally rebounded quickly out of defence.

Will Snelling interests me this week. In just 50% of teams, Snelling got pushed onto a wing and scored 82 in AFL Fantasy and 102 in SuperCoach. Snelling is listed as a forward and should continue his role on the wing, especially without Shiel, Stringer and Heppell.

The Sydney Swans are up against the Suns this week and I’d be happy to roll out Aliir Aliir. He averages 96.5 SuperCoach and 77 AFL Fantasy points against the Suns and with the Swans naming Sinclair to play the main ruck role, Aliir will play second string ruck. If this is the case, hopefully Aliir isn’t competing against Witts and is able to get some cheap hitouts and stats around the ground.

Sideshow Ben Brown has been down on his usual output in 2020, but the big key forward is up against a depleted tigers defence and is a chance to kick a big bag. Brown is in 55% of teams and with the Tigers not having anyone who can match him in height, Brown should be able to outmark Grimes and kick a bag,
