  1. Hello Nick, have only recently found this website and have loved the articles. Just wondering your thoughts on short term and long term views on Josh Daicos and James Worpel. I currently have Daicos on bench, but Worpel is on Free Agent list. Wondering if I should pick Worpel up.

    1. Cheers, glad you like it! I think Daicos will hold his 84 average. I also think Worpel will improve from his 57 average so far, but I can’t see him overtaking Daicos. I wouldn’t give up Josh for him at this stage. Keep in mind, Worpel is yet to crack 90 this year. If there’s no one else on the free agent list, take a punt, but I’m not confident in him coming near his 2019 form. At best he might get near last year’s average of 78.

  2. Webster is available but I’ve gone with Braeden Campbell against Gold Coast instead. What do you think about that? Also who would you start as your last Defender this week out of Campbell, Ash or Swallow?

    1. I’d roll with Webster personally. he just seems safer to me. the swans have a salad of running defenders now and im even losing faith in blakey at this stage. to answer your question, anyone but swallow.

      1. This is for SuperCoach

Same advice for SuperCoach and AFL Fantasy?

  3. Thanks for another cracking article. Wingard is sitting on our waivers, is he worth grabbing?

    1. thanks! and sorry for the late reply mate. he was sitting on our wire and i nabbed him, only for him to get yet another 60… you can’t deny his consistency, i guess!

    1. For this season I’m much keener on Zach Williams. He’s shown a good ceiling (137) and from round two onwards has averaged 89. Ridley has been disappointing, and hasn’t shown much of a ceiling at all (top score of 94 and only 2 above 72). He might bounce back, but Redman’s improvement seems to have hurt him. Fingers crossed he lifts in the second half of the year!

    1. so let’s say there is a friday night game featuring one of your players. you sit him on your bench as an emergency and if he scores well, you play a non-playing player on field before any imposing lockouts. the ability/ways to loophole will depend on your league settings, however

  4. Hey Nick, what do you think about trading Handsome Tom and Serong for English and Xerri?

    1. Hi Dave,
I like the trade but it depends a bit on where you are in the ladder and how your midfield looks. If you have the midfield depth to afford to lose serong and you don’t desperately need a win this week (handsome Tom could maul the dons), I like it. English should be great after the bye (will probably take him a week or two to get up to speed) and Xerri should be more consistent and outscore lynch in the back end of the year. There’s risk, and short term pain, but it sounds like it could be a good one for you!

      1. Thanks Nick, yeah 2nd on ladder and good midfield depth, given how shallow forwards and rucks are I was leaning to doing it and use the short term value of handsome Tom. Now to look at doing the same with Blicavs 🙂

    1. It’s so much more complex in a keeper. It depends on how many you keep, but the biggest question is are you contending this year or not? If you’re in contention for the flag, I’d look to broker a trade with a lower ranked side. You should be able to get an older, serviceable defender for him. I certainly wouldn’t drop him without some trade compensation. Hope that helps!

    1. I think there definately is. I know his injury was pretty bad. If he can increase his mid time in the coming weeks, he’s certainly shown last season he’s capable of good scoring. I wouldn’t give up the world for him, but if your forward line’s weak, I’d say TT could be well worth the punt.

  5. I know it’s after the fact but what on earth were you smoking re: calum Jamieson lol English has been dominating all year and was always going to tonight

  6. Hi Matty,
I’m in an enviable position of being able to watch most games on the weekend due to the fact that I can. I think with the Bailey Williams scenario, and I would agree with you in most years but in the last couple of weeks, he’s had a role change. He’s playing the wing position vacated by Lachie Hunter. Hence the scores last 2 weeks. I think this is set to continue and for mine he’s a river play candidate. A disclaimer here is that I’m no expert.

    1. noted! even if i had the time, i don’t think i could sit through an eagle’s game right now, haha

  7. Little concerned for A Kennedy/Ash, Taranto back and The Berg as a defender. Its basically just Cummings and Berg show down back, and its looking like a wet game. Would Worpel be a play?

Also Z Fisher v Saints? Papley vs Bombers? (the latter tonning up last time they played)

    1. i didn’t see the weather report, so it’s probably a fade if itll be wet. the saints have been giving it up to to not only the relevant defenders and that’s what im basing the tip on. I think ash has been playing most wing.

i have no faith in worpel, but in the wet he may get a bump.

fisher may be impacted by cerra, but papley makes for a fun punt on the bombers.
